Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Full-Time | Monday – Friday  8:00am-4:30pm

Pay rate: $20 per hour paid weekly

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our clinical team. This role combines both administrative and clinical responsibilities to support efficient office operations and deliver high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.


Key Responsibilities

Administrative Duties:

  • Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and manage patient inquiries
  • Check patients in and out while verifying demographic and insurance information
  • Manage daily clinical inboxes and respond to emails and tasks promptly
  • Process incoming and outgoing medical records requests
  • Collect co-pays and outstanding balances; reconcile and submit end-of-day receipts
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records, including document scanning and barcoding
  • Ensure the waiting area is organized and properly managed

Clinical Duties:

  • Prepare patients for examinations, including obtaining vital signs and medical histories
  • Assist physicians and physician assistants with procedures and treatments
  • Maintain patient flow in coordination with clinical staff
  • Prepare and sanitize exam rooms, equipment, and instruments
  • Monitor and restock medical supplies and inventory

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required
  • Current CMA certification (AAMA) required
  • 2–5 years of experience in a similar role preferred
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR); experience with Athenahealth is a plus
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and insurance practices
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Reliable, professional, and adaptable with a strong work ethic

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for extended periods
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring visual accuracy and attention to detail

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional medical office setting with a low to moderate noise level. The role may also involve occasional participation in community-based activities.
