Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
Full-Time | Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
Pay rate: $20 per hour paid weekly
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our clinical team. This role combines both administrative and clinical responsibilities to support efficient office operations and deliver high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Duties:
- Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and manage patient inquiries
- Check patients in and out while verifying demographic and insurance information
- Manage daily clinical inboxes and respond to emails and tasks promptly
- Process incoming and outgoing medical records requests
- Collect co-pays and outstanding balances; reconcile and submit end-of-day receipts
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records, including document scanning and barcoding
- Ensure the waiting area is organized and properly managed
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare patients for examinations, including obtaining vital signs and medical histories
- Assist physicians and physician assistants with procedures and treatments
- Maintain patient flow in coordination with clinical staff
- Prepare and sanitize exam rooms, equipment, and instruments
- Monitor and restock medical supplies and inventory
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required
- Current CMA certification (AAMA) required
- 2–5 years of experience in a similar role preferred
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR); experience with Athenahealth is a plus
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and insurance practices
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Reliable, professional, and adaptable with a strong work ethic
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for extended periods
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
- Ability to perform tasks requiring visual accuracy and attention to detail
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional medical office setting with a low to moderate noise level. The role may also involve occasional participation in community-based activities.
