Dental Receptionist

Pay-$16.00
Hours- Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Job Summary

We are seeking a professional, organized, and customer-focused Dental Patient Care Coordinator to support the daily operations of a busy dental practice. This position is responsible for front office administration, patient scheduling, patient relations, insurance coordination, collections, and maintaining efficient patient flow throughout the practice.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment while providing exceptional service to patients, students, faculty, and staff.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and manage patient check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and assist patients with scheduling and general inquiries.
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information for billing purposes.
  • Support daily front office operations and patient relations activities.
  • Maintain appointment schedules and assist with coordinating patient flow throughout the practice.
  • Work closely with providers, students, and clinical staff to ensure an efficient patient experience.
  • Process patient payments and assist with collections activities.
  • Prepare and balance end-of-day financial reports.
  • Protect and secure cash, checks, credit card transactions, and patient financial information.
  • Collect and verify dental insurance information and assist with reimbursement processes.
  • Coordinate dental materials inventory needs with appropriate departments.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Assist with training and supporting students in front office business operations.
  • Participate in meetings, professional development opportunities, and community outreach activities as assigned.
  • Perform additional administrative and operational duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience with patient scheduling, customer service, and front office operations.
  • Knowledge of dental insurance, reimbursement processes, and ADA coding preferred.
  • Strong understanding of patient privacy regulations (HIPAA).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Accurate data entry and recordkeeping skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a dental office, medical office, healthcare administration, or similar customer service role preferred.
  • Experience with dental practice management software is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, and use hands for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work at a computer and perform detailed administrative tasks throughout the day.

Work Environment

  • Professional dental office environment.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, providers, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Low to moderate noise level.
  • Occasional participation in community outreach activities.
