Hospital Housekeeper / Floor Care Technician (Emergency Department - Overnight)

Job Description

This is a hands-on Environmental Services role that combines hospital housekeeping with floor care responsibilities. The position is primarily assigned to the Emergency Department and focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitized environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deep cleaning patient rooms after discharge, including high dusting, wall washing, and disinfecting all surfaces.
  • Thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing stretchers, equipment, and patient care areas.
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and maintaining floors throughout assigned areas.
  • Performing floor care duties using appropriate equipment and cleaning techniques.
  • Restocking supplies and removing trash and biohazard waste according to hospital procedures.
  • Assisting with cleaning inpatient units as directed by the Nurse Manager or Team Lead.
  • Completing required documentation, maintenance logs, and quality checklists.
  • Following all infection prevention and hospital safety protocols.

Job Requirements

  • Previous housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, Environmental Services (EVS), or floor care experience preferred.
  • Floor care experience is a plus; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Excellent attendance and reliability.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively.
