Machine Operator – Stamping Press
Job Summary
We are seeking dependable and mechanically inclined Machine Operators to join a fast-paced manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for operating stamping presses and auxiliary equipment used to produce metal connector plates and steel components. Starting pay at $18.00 per hour.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, comfortable working around production machinery, and able to maintain quality and production standards throughout the shift. Previous manufacturing or machine operating experience is preferred, but candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate stamping presses and auxiliary production equipment.
- Monitor manual and automated packaging processes.
- Meet or exceed daily production goals while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Feed slit ribbon material correctly into stamping dies.
- Perform first-piece inspections before production runs.
- Continuously inspect finished products for quality.
- Manually package metal connectors and steel components into appropriate containers.
- Mark steel lot numbers accurately on shipping containers.
- Monitor machine coolant and oil levels and make adjustments as needed.
- Identify machine malfunctions and immediately report issues to mechanics or supervisors.
- Assist maintenance personnel when needed to keep press and packaging equipment operational.
- Minimize scrap and product waste.
- Accurately complete production and quality documentation throughout the shift.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety, quality and production procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Up to 1 year of manufacturing, machine operating, stamping press or related experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand basic prints and schematics.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure, including 1/32-inch increments.
- Comfortable using small hand and power tools.
- Basic math skills, including percentages, measurements and basic geometry.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
Equivalent education, training or hands-on experience demonstrating the ability to perform the position may be considered.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically active manufacturing position. Candidates must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
- Frequently bend, crouch, push and pull.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Safely perform repetitive production and packaging tasks.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel and coworkers.
Attendance & Schedule Requirements
Reliable attendance is an essential part of this position. Employees must be able to:
- Arrive on time and be ready to work at the beginning of each scheduled shift.
- Maintain dependable attendance.
- Remain at their assigned workstation throughout the scheduled shift.
- Work overtime when required based on production needs.
